Worm Castings and Juice

Sorry Shawn - we will not be using any of the following ingredients in the blender or shake. The Worm Juice I'm talking about here was given to me by Yvonne, who was kind enough to give me two jars - one with a Worm Casting or soil/compost and the other a liquid.

    Worm Castings                                            Liquid 'tea'

If you've not heard of or have used items from worms and you have a garden - it's about time you have! Very Edible Gardens describes it as Chocolate for plants - but without the tooth decay and regret. ha! :)

So how do we use it? Well - if you have full mature plants - you can use it directly on them, otherwise you have to dilute both the soil and or the tea. As it'll burn your younger crops.

Seems you use a 1:5 or a 1:10 ratio for the liquid tea, make sure the color is that of a weak tea consistency and the solid you'll mix with your compost or mulch, and use this something like every week or two. It'll depend on if your plants are actively producing a crop.

The juice is not as rich and complex as the soil castings., and should be applied after watering your garden, or watered immediately after laying it down in the garden bed.

Hopefully it's not raining today when we get home, so that our corn, cucumbers, flowers and more will get a nice tasty treat!
